In Loving Memory of Lucy, Our Swanky Girl

Fifteen years. That’s how long we were lucky enough to share our lives with her - our silver girl, our Velcro pup, our woodland adventurer, our co-founder in fur.

She came from the most humble beginnings - born the only silver pup in a litter of golden fluffballs. Unchosen, overlooked, left behind simply because she was different. She started her young life not in a cozy nursery or a backyard with toys, but in a pig pen in Tennessee. Yep, pigs. And as odd as that sounds, maybe that’s what gave her the grit, the charm, and the irresistible sparkle that made her ours.

We found her and knew. She hitched a ride with a canine transport bound for New York, and the moment we saw her, it was over. She was family.

She was all legs and absolutely no chill when she hit the open field. That girl could fly. She was a blur of silver and joy, dashing through woods and bounding across grass like it was her own kingdom. She loved adventure (as long as it didn’t involve a car). Lucy was a food lover (unless that food was a vegetable), a grass-roller, and a treat connoisseur. And of all the toys in the world, she only ever loved one - a red stuffed snake, faded from years of gentle care. She carried it with her like a treasure, never tearing it, always protecting it, as if she knew it was part of her story. That snake stayed by her side for nearly her whole life..

Lucy was sweet. Loyal. Gentle. The kind of dog who made friends with everyone… kids, strangers, fellow pups. She had a soul like sunshine and eyes that always seemed to say, “I’m right here with you.”

She was a Velcro dog in every way, glued to her people, to her pack, to her purpose. And she had a purpose. She was a constant companion. She was one of the founding members of our Swanky Mutt family… modeling patience, stealing hearts, providing constant inspiration. Her paw prints are all over this brand, and even more so, all over our hearts.

There will never be another quite like her. Our silver girl from the pig pen, who became royalty in our homes and our hearts.

Run free, sweet girl. The woods are endless now, and the grass is soft. Thank you for choosing us back.

We love you always.
